Meet Scoutbase

Scoutbase brings together years of experience in understanding and solving problems at sea and on shore. Our interdisciplinary team combines safety science, design thinking and technology in order to help improve work and life at sea.

Meet Scoutbase

“For years I worked as a marine accident investigator for the Danish government. What struck me was that, most of the time, what went wrong was not something out of the ordinary.

Many of the accidents I investigated could probably have been prevented, had there been a better understanding of the conditions that allowed the accident to happen in the first place.

Unfortunately, very few of the shipping companies I worked with were actually building a deeper understanding of those conditions - which is understandable, because that would be very expensive and hard to do, particularly if you want to achieve this for your whole fleet. To change this, I quit my job and started Scoutbase.”

Mads is a former seafarer, and ship surveyor and accident investigator with the Danish government. He holds a MSc degree in Human Factors & System Safety from Lund University, and registration as Chartered Marine Technologist with IMarEST.
